Obituary of William D. Ruocco

William D. Ruocco, age 89, of Florida and Shelton and formerly of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosalie Minai Ruocco. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 15, 1926 he was a son of the late Michael and Mary DiFabio Ruocco. A U.S. Coast Guard veteran, he had served proudly during World War II in the Merchant Marines. Bill was employed by General Electric as a Technical Representative before his retirement with 45 years of dedicated service. He was proud to have served as a volunteer for the Trumbull Center Fire Department for over 40 years where he also served as Treasurer and built numerous lasting relationships. In his later years he enjoyed working at the Tashua Knolls Golf Course and was a member of the Tashua Senior Men's Club. One of his joys was to spend those sunny days in Florida out fishing with Captain Vic bringing in the catch of the day. He also traveled the world with his work and later with his wife. He loved his home in Wellfleet where he would become an experienced shell fisherman. Over the years he attended many of his granddaughters lacrosse games and his grandson's hockey games, he took such pride in watching them excel on the field and the ice. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his loving daughters, Laura Pulie and her husband Richard of Trumbull and Jeanne Wolf and her husband Michael of Broad Brook, six cherished grandchildren Dr. Amy Condos and her husband Dr. Greg Condos, Julie Barrows, Victoria, Krista and Lisa Pulie, and Benjamin Wolf. His daughter, Donamarie Barrows and his brother, Dominic Ruocco, predeceased him. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
