Obituary of Robert R. Cascella

Robert R. Cascella, age 85, of Monroe, NJ, beloved husband of the late Valentina Picheco Cascella, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his daughter's home surrounded by family. Born in Bridgeport on August 11, 1930, he was a son of the late Ralph L. Cascella and Margaret Funteral Cascella. Mr. Cascella was a driver salesman for Table Talk Pie Company and Drakes Bakeries before his retirement. He enjoyed the many trips he made to the casino and his weekly poker and cribbage games which he played with his friends as well as bowling, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Italian American Club and the Teamsters Local 191 Retirees. Along with Valentina, his late wife of 63 years, they formerly resided in Shelton, Bridgeport and Milford, and enjoyed many trips traveling all around the world. In addition to his wife, Mr. Cascella was pre-deceased by a son, Anthony R. Cascella, two brothers, Ralph and Albert Cascella and a sister, Rosalie Hargrove. Survivors include daughter, Cheryl Confalone and her husband, Dr. Leonard Confalone of NJ, daughter-in-law, Susan Cascella of Milford and daughter, Michele Ferrari of Ansonia, a sister, Barbara Sattani and her husband Vincent of Florida, nine grandchildren, Robert Cascella, Anthony Cascella, Joseph Aspelund and his wife Cathryn, Deana Confalone, Shanna Rohland, Matthew Cascella and his wife Jeanna, William Rohland and his wife Kate, Jodi Cascella and Christian Confalone and seven great grandchildren, Anthony Cascella, Kadence Leidy, Nico Turpin, Madelyn Aspelund, Cameron Cascella, Victoria Aspelund and Morgan Cascella. The Family would like to thank the Robert Wood Johnson Hospice and Austine Omizegba for the amazing care they provided which enabled Mr. Cascella to pass away at home with his family. Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Milford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
