Obituary of Amelia F. Selski

Amelia (Millie) Fensky Selski, a lifelong resident of Easton passed away peacefully on June 6, 2016 at the age of 90. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Selski. The youngest of 10 siblings, she was born on March 19, 1926 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Gustaf and Bertha (Weise) Fensky. Millie was predeceased by her four brothers and four sisters. Millie was a volunteer in Siren Aide Ladies Auxiliary of the Easton Fire Department. She is a past president of the Siren Aide. You could always find Millie and her family peeling peaches for the peach shortcakes served at the Fireman's Carnival each summer. Millie also loved to share stories of the Jesse Lee Methodist Church dinners and sewing club. Millie enjoyed her gardens and wildlife. There was a special place in her heart for her many dogs, cats, goats and ducks. The way to Millie's heart was a 'sweetie' of a candy or pastry. A crossword puzzle was her challenge and she did them in ink! She also cherished her many summer trips to Cape Cod spending time with her family. Millie's greatest pride was her son who was always by her side after her husband died at the age of 45. He always said that she taught him how to make the right decisions and she trusted him with everything in her life right up until the end. She loved Easton where she and her husband built their home and she lived there for 69 years. Millie recently moved to Stern Center in Trumbull where she was still able to live independently while enjoying the center's caring staff. Millie was fortunate to have her sister, Freda living down the road from her in Easton so that they could share conversation each day. Millie was also grateful for the special relationship that she had developed with Easton neighbors Jan, Gloria, Nick and Sylvia. She also cherished time spent with Pam Healy, Easton Outreach Worker. Millie is survived by her loving son, William Selski and his wife, Debbie Rick Selski. She is also survived by her sister, Freda Dickinson who lives in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews and especially one niece so dear to her heart, Sophie Ann Black. The family wishes to thank the Trumbull EMS and the ICU Surgical staff at St. Vincent's Medical Center for their compassionate care during her last days. We also wish to thank the staff at Stern Center for making her short time there so welcoming. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, June 10th at 11 am at Union Cemetery, 850 Sport Hill Rd., Easton. Arrangements in care of the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Memorial contributions may be made to Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical Service, P.O.
