Obituary of Joseph A Spadolino

Joseph A. Spadolino, age 91, beloved husband to the late Helen Vitkovsky Spadolino and longtime resident of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Benchmark at Split Rock Facility in Shelton. Born on May 9th, 1925 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Peter and Florence (Riccio) Spadolino. After high school, Joseph served with pride and honor, as Seaman First Class, on the U.S.S. Quincy in the US Navy during World War II, the same ship that carried President Roosevelt to the YALTA Conference. After the war, Joseph was a Millwright/Rigger for Textron Lycoming for over 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and was a volunteer for many years at the Booth Memorial Park Rose Garden. As a member of the Stratford Baldwin Center, he enjoyed the various activities there and going for long walks. Joseph is survived by his step daughter, Carol Ann Geffert and her husband Charles of Seymour; his two cherished grandchildren Tonya Mastrobattisto and her husband John of Madison, and Darren Geffert of Black Mountain, North Carolina; his two adored great grandchildren, Evan and Morgan Mastrobattisto; and his loving sister Ann Marie Baldino, of Milford as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Helen, Joseph was predeceased by his step son, Edward Swift and his brothers Peter and William Spadolino. Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday morning, July 12, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull followed by an interment with full Military Honors at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
