Obituary of Idalina Martins

Idalina Estevinho Chaves Martins, age 71, of Shelton, beloved wife of Diamantino Braga Martins, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 5, 2016 in Chaves, Portugal. Born on March 9, 1945 in Calvão, Chaves, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Maximiano and Arminda Estevinho Chaves. Idalina was a retired employee of Northbridge Health Care Center, Bridgeport. She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where she volunteered her time for many prayer groups and functions. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her friends and family. She would always be there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, always putting others before herself. But above all things she valued time spent with her vast family, especially her grandchildren. The love and care she provided will live on in their hearts forever. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her beloved husband of 48 years, Diamantino, survivors include two loving sons, Alberto Martins and his wife Amy of Shelton and Maximiano Martins and his wife Meg of Derby; three cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Chloe and Cristiano; four sisters, Mabilde Rua of Oxford, Ana Estevinho of Trumbull, Maria Alice Estevinho of Bridgeport and Adelaide Estevinho and her husband Manuel of Stratford; as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers and sister-in-laws. Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00- 5:00 p.m.
