Obituary of John J. Grabowski

John J. Grabowski, age 91, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Dorothy Bonazzo Grabowski, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on July 24, 1925, he was a son of the late Stanley and Antoinette Balcer Grabowski and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an expert craftsman and was very proud to have built his own home. John was also honored to be the first Polish member of the Trumbull Italian Community Club and had retired from working as night foreman for Journal Courier. He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy, two sons, Ronald Grabowski and his wife Janene, John Grabowski Jr and his wife Christine, both of Monroe, nine cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Brian, Ryan, Caroline, Reed, Kevin, Kyle, Sarah and Trent, a daughter-in-law, Rose Gillespie Grabowski, of Monroe, and a sister, Mary Grabowski. He was predeceased by his son, Richard Grabowski, four brothers, and a sister. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in John's name to St Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
