Obituary of Therese M. Hunter

Therese Marie Hunter, age 78, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Francis Michael Hunter, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York, New York on July 15, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Clara Vollmer Mahony. Terry grew up in Franklin Square, NY and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy High School and Saint John's L.I.C. Hospital School of Nursing. She and Frank moved to CT in 1960 and settled in Shelton, CT to raise their family. Terry began her career as a registered nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport and then worked for many years at St. Joseph's Manor in Trumbull until her retirement. Above all else she was a loving mother and grandmother, who took care of and cared deeply for her family. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Hunter. Survivors include her children, Jeanne Bodyk and her husband Frederick of Shelton, Daniel Hunter and his wife Sharon of Shelton, Christine Hunter of Manhattan, Peg Levine and her husband Steven of Shelton, Lt. Col. (Select) Kevin Hunter and his wife Jennifer of Burke, VA, 10 grandchildren, Emily Bodyk, Mary, John and James Hunter, Hannah and Dylan Levine, Victoria, Samantha, Sean and Alexander Hunter. She is also survived by a brother, Paul Mahony and his wife Regina of Hatboro, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will take place on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
