Obituary of Angela Heyse
Angela (Alicandro) Heyse, age 81, died peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2011 at her home in Shelton, CT surrounded by her family. She was born on December 21, 1929 in Stratford, CT to Bernardino and Marie (Vento) Alicandro. Her father was the owner of Alicandro Construction Co. She attended public school in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School in 1947. She married Arthur Heyse on September 24, 1949 at St. James Church. They later moved to Huntington where they raised three children. Ahead of her time, she was a successful business woman. Obtaining her real estate and brokers license in the late 1950s, as well as her G. R. I. and C. R. S. designations, she founded Heyse Real Estate by about 1964, which quickly became a leading real estate office in Huntington. She was one of the first three women to join the Greater Bridgeport Board of Realtors and also served on the Womens Council of Realtors and the Valley Board of Realtors. She was named to Whos Who in America. She worked side by side with her husband running the business until their retirement in 1988. She was an avid golfer achieving a hole-in-one several times. She was a member of the Brownson and Isla Del Sol (St. Petersburg, FL) Country Clubs. She loved the outdoors, was an avid skier, and loved skating, dancing, and walking along the beach. She truly enjoyed being with other people and was comfortable in any social setting. During her long battle with Parkinsons Disease, her husband provided loving and compassionate care.
She is also survived by her three children, Craig Heyse of Shelton, Karen Cole of Chapel Hill, NC and Pamela Wellock of Point of Rocks, MD and their spouses, Judy, Joseph and Thomas. She has six grandchildren, Glenn and Sheryl Heyse, Haleigh and Kendyl Cole and Angela and Thomas Wellock. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Lorenzo, Frank, Jerry and John. She is survived by her two sisters, Claire Gamble of Hull, MA and Theresa Siviglia of Stamford, CT. She was especially grateful for her loving niece, Bernadette Pavlowski for her devotion and support.
A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will take place on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, 2110 Main St., Stratford.
