Obituary of Matthew Vetro
Matthew Vetro, age 76, beloved husband of Jeanette Carlo Vetro of Trumbull, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on November 9, 1940, he was the son of the late Charles Vetro and Armonda Gabrielli Vetro. Matt was a longtime resident of Trumbull and along with his wife enjoyed spending their winter months in Boca Raton, FL. He was a graduate of Central High School and then served in the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of the family business Vetro Package Store which; was passed on by his father and had many locations throughout Fairfield County. A real estate developer and entrepreneur; his hard work and dedication made him a successful developer in Fairfield County. He had the vision to transform many properties into stunning and luxurious buildings. He was loved and admired by all of his colleagues; his generosity and concern for all the lives he touched was one of his many great attributes. He was a member of the Mill River Country Club for over 40 years, where he established many lifelong friendships. A true gentleman, he was a kind, generous and gentle man, who always was there to help anyone. But above all of his accomplishments, his greatest role in life was that of husband, father, and grandfather. The unconditional love and memories they shared will continue to live on in their hearts forever. Matthew will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife Jeanette of 55 years, survivors include three loving daughters, Victoria Vetro of Trumbull, Armonda Christopher of Florida, Gina Falco and her husband Jeffrey of Trumbull, four cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Brooke Christopher and Anthony and Sophia Falco, sisters, Vera Boyle and Rose Sampieri and her husband Philip all of Monroe, an aunt and uncle, Sam and Flo Gabrielli of Trumbull, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Lily Fasano and two brothers-in-law, Eddie Boyle and Mike Fasano.
Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 6675 or to Swim Across the Sound, St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
