Obituary of Frances J. Kleitz
Frances J. McCarthy Kleitz, age 90, of Trumbull passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 31, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Kleitz. Born in Bridgeport on April 8, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Edward and Helen McGuire McCarthy. She was the owner of Daybreak Florist, where she showcased her talent for floral arrangements for many years. Frances was proud to have been one of the founding members of the Trumbull Historical Society and was also recognized as being the first woman trustee in the United States for Catholic Churches. She also served as a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Ladies Guild. Frances was a worldwide traveler, an avid antique collector and had a gift for telling stories. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Cathryn Santo of Trumbull, three cherished grandchildren, Alexis Gulas and her husband Joseph, Alicia Smith and her companion Joseph Mele and Elizabeth Perry and her husband Ross, her adored great grandson, Hugh Perry, her sister, Helene Tallman of Newtown, her lifelong friends, Janet Marino, Eve Hendricks and Francesca Caruso, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Andrew, she was also predeceased by her son, Peter Kleitz, her son-in-law, James Santo and her brother, Edward "Ted" McCarthy.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Rd., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
