Obituary of George J. Biagioni
George J. Biagioni, age 86, of Trumbull passed away suddenly and peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
George was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on December 20, 1931. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Lena Amaranti Biagioni; three brothers William, Walter, and Harold; and two sisters Carrie and Diane. He is survived by his sister Joyce Paci and brother Peter Biagioni.
George attended Central High School (Bridgeport) where he excelled in basketball. He was awarded the Glen E. Hamlin Memorial trophy for Outstanding Achievement Central High 1948-1949 presented by the Rector A.A. It was during high school that he met and married the love of his life Violet Jean Dorio. George and Violet were married 67 years. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served during the Korean Conflict. George continued his education at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute earning a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He then went to work for E and F Construction Company in Bridgeport, CT.
From 1956 until his retirement in 1988, George was employed by Avco Lycoming (Textron). He worked in various positions and completed his career as Quality Control Manager. George was politically active in Trumbull serving on several boards and commissions over the years which included the Democratic Town Committee, Inland Wetland, and Sewer Commission. He served as chairperson of several. He was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Trumbull Democratic Town Committee in 2013.
George is survived by his loving wife Violet Jean Dorio Biagioni, his daughters Nadine Todisco and Lynn (William) Costello, all of Trumbull. He was predeceased by his loving son Walter. He enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren Jennifer and Stacy Todisco, Allison Biagioni, and Laura and Christie Costello, as well as his two great grandchildren Brooklyn and Camden Todisco Le. He could always be seen on the sidelines of their activities whether it was dance, basketball, softball, or soccer. He was a fan of the Uconn girls' basketball team and loved to watch all old Western movies.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be forever missed, but always remembered for his love, kindness, compassion, and wisdom.
Friends are invited to Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Avenue, Trumbull, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery at 2205 Stratford Avenue, Stratford, CT.
