The passing of a true friend causes one to recall past memories which cascade through the mind in a blur. In matters of joy and success or stress and failure John remained a true friend. In his youth, his work ethnic, concern for justice and prudence were mainstays of his character. For some, these gifts of the Holy Spirit take years to develop; but through perseverance John completed the ascent. So it would seem that the exhortation of Jesus, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live” is well intended.

I will miss you, Mr. Onofreo. I am grateful for the conversation we had last Christmas. Discussing work and paging through old photo albums together. I’m glad Bryce and Jordyn got to know you and I will forever think of you when I look at their banks. I look forward to when we get to sit together again and look back on good memories. Jen and I miss you.
