I was saddened when I heard of news of Jim's passing. I grew up in the neighborhood with Jim and Jo, two wonderful people. Whenever Jim was around there was never a dull moment. Jim, as we all know, was a Yankee fan...my father was a Met fan and the two of them would constantly be arguing as to who's team was the better. When Jim was around there was always laughter. He was the first one who would be out there helping his neighbors shovel out of a snow storm. Jim was always there when anyone needed help. He was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed, Rest in Peace Jim, and say hello to Jo for me. Together once again.

I had hoped to write about my favorite brother-in-law while he was still with us so he would know what an impact he had on my life growing up with him in our family in Bridgeport. I was only eight years old when he married my oldest sister and soon became an aunt to our darling “Little Jimmy”, their first child. At the young age of nine years old I was babysitting for him and being taught how to drive on the way home. I couldn’t see over the steering wheel, so Big Jim put a pillow on the seat for me and away we went down Boston Avenue. I was so happy when he became a fuel truck driver for Hoffman Fuel because whenever he could he would stop at our house for lunch with Mama and me and then I was the only freshman at Harding High to get a ride to school in a big fuel truck. How everyone laughed when he had to hand me down from up there with all my books in tow. We shared to many happy family memories, picnics in their yard, getting tackled even if you were playing baseball, everyone had such a great time. I always sat next to Jimmy at family dinners and we would take turns stealing what ever looked good off of each others plate or butttering the other persons arm when they reached for something. There were sad times too but we all pulled together to get through them such as the loss of “Little Jimmy” and my sister Josephine. Now I know they are all together, watching over us with love and caring. Rest in Peace Jimmy you gave all of us a lot of smiles!
