As much as he taught me as a resident at BH, what I cherish so much more is having shared music. Dr Butler had taken up electric guitar and I was a kindred spirit. We spent many nights at Toad's Place watching the Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute band, Steve Morse and Allan Holdsworth but the highlight was taking a trip into the city where he treated me and my wife, among others, to dinner and an evening of music with Les Paul at the Iridium night club. Wonderful memories of a special man.

I always enjoyed consulting with Don. His opinions went beyond the radiology findings and he consistently gave important insights into each case. He was great to connect with on a personal level. His medical career was unfortunately cut short and missed working with him. Condolences to his family - a wonderful man.

Don was a special guy that enjoyed life in ways that connected the two of us many years ago. I shared his love of family, the outdoors, and his passion for hunting. We enjoyed getting together and sharing stories of our kids and various hunting adventures. I enjoyed those times and will reflect on them the rest of my life. One memory, that has always been a stand-out, is an evening in Chicago with our wives. That evening included the most memorable dinner experience of our life. Every time we got together, the dinner would ultimately come up. My wife and I talk of that dinner to this day. He and Jane were very special people who left us too soon but will be remembered for ever.

Please accept most most sincere condolences. Don was truly an AMAZING individual - not many people ride Ducati motorcycles and hunt big game! I feel very fortunate that I was given the opportunity to work with Don at Advanced Radiology. He always had a kind word, loved working with patients and residents, and was an excellent radiologist. He will be missed.

Don and I worked together at Advanced Radiology for several years and remained friends after. I can’t think of greater guy. True to the heart. I have many fond memories of dinners out with Don and Jane at our favorite Italian restaurant, Mulino’s of Fairfield, our yearly NYC Oyster Bar lunches around the holidays, many evenings on his patio with a cigar and a single malt, and racing through the windy roads of Easton in his convertible sports car – a Shelby Cobra? He had a love for life and lived it well. My deepest condolences to Don’s family.

Michelle and Gordon, my sincere condolences to you and your family. I worked with Don in the Radiology Dept many years ago. He was such a great human being. So respectful, soft spoken, great "one liners," I could go on and on. We also spoke about his guitar playing. Great memories will be carried on. He always had time for a conversation as well as helping in time of need. Great guy!

I was a resident at Bridgeport from 1990-1994. I have many, many amazing memories of Don. Don always treated the residents as a vessel waiting to be filled with his passion for radiology and teaching. He greeted us with open arms, a warm heart, and friendly personality.
I will always remember the great times we had in the specials room talking techniques and approaches and the best care of the patient. He also would engage us in conversation regarding our personal lives and he genuinely cared about us as a friend and colleague. Journal club at his house was a real treat as we got to see the hospitality of his family. We all enjoyed conversing with Gordon and Michelle. Jane was so warm and kind. Of course there was always the famous Mike Forino cheesecake for dessert! Thank you for inviting us to your home and sharing your family with us.
Don always liked to talk about outdoor activities (I had grown up out west in Colorado) and he would daydream of moving to Montana to be in the thick of the west. We used to talk quite a bit about movies and one of his favorites was the movie Tombstone. Don was accomplished in so many things. He and I would talk about country music. He really liked Clint Black.
Don was a beloved mentor and his friendship will always be remembered.

Michelle and Gordon:
I am certain that everyone who knew your dad agrees that we was a "gentleman" and a great guy, using his words.
I was his senior when he joined us at Bridgeport Radiology [now Advanced Radiology Consultants], and I share
the interventional radiology group with him, and so not only did we work together for a long time, but we shared calls.
He loved teaching the residents, and I asked him to join me in managing the residency. He loved selecting candidates
and interviewing them, and was always present with your Mom at our house for all the social activities with the
residents. He was rewarded with the many "Teaching of the Year" awards for his special treatment to the residents.
We were also "opera" friends, as he developed the love for Wagner, and we went to several Ring cycles together.
Nela and I have very good memories of the nice times spent with both of your parents, and we are sure that you will
carry those forever. Life always end this way, but the memories will always remain.

Don was my colleague and partner at Advanced Radiology Consultants and the department of radiology at Bridgeport Hospital. We met in residency at the University of Pennsylvania, where I was two years his senior, and became good friends. When my practice in Bridgeport needed someone to develop a state of the art interventional radiology service, Don was the obvious choice. He was everything one would want as a doctor, teacher, and partner: kind, caring, loyal, trusting and trustworthy. It was difficult to see him stricken so young and watch his decline. Yet, he kept his good nature and sense of humor up until the last time I saw him. I will miss him and cherish his memory.
