Obituary of Rosary (Rose) Rick

Rosary (Rose) (Barba) Rick, age 95, of Stratford passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert D. Rick. Born in New Haven on June 8, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Viola (Liscio) Barba. At 16 years old, she was the youngest student of drafting in the State Trade schools, and the only girl in Bridgeport's class of almost 40. A talented artist and musician, Rose learned guitar from her father, and also studied piano, oil painting, watercolor, pastels and ceramics. Rose later entertained the troops with her singing and guitar playing as a member of the USO during World War II. She was a past member of the Shakespeare Civitan Club of Stratford and more recently a member of the Elderberries, where she played guitar and sang Western songs. Prior to raising her family, she worked as a beautician and had also been employed by Remington Arms during the Vietnam War. Rose was later employed by Bunker Ramo, where she assembled printed circuit boards for banking terminals for many years before her eventual retirement. A woman of great faith, Rose was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Stratford. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her sense of humor and bright personality also served as the foundation of many friendships through the years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Barbara Carbone of Orange and Beverly Rick of Stratford, her cherished granddaughter, Katie Carbone of Wallingford, and her furry granddaughter Mika, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband Albert, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Andrew and Joseph Barba and Geraldine Como.

Friends and relatives may attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Due to the current situation with social gatherings, seating is limited and face masks will be required. Interment will be held privately for the immediate family.
