Obituary of Rafal Ben

Rafal Ben, age 50 of Monroe, CT passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital, after a tragic accident; he was surrounded by his loving family. Rafal was the beloved husband of Anna Kubien-Ben. Born in Czeladz, Poland on June 28, 1970, he was the son of Aleksander and Grazyna (Gwara) Ben. 

Rafal was a skilled and honest craftsman who always put his clients first as the owner of Rafal Ben Painting Services for over 25 years. His work transcended professional boundaries and he became a dear friend to many of his clients.

Rafal always strove to achieve his best self, physically, mentally and spiritually; he gave 100% and found joy in becoming an expert at whatever he took on. He could regularly be found cooking healthy meals for his family, perfecting his famous sourdough bread, or running with his friends on the trails of Monroe and nearby towns. He loved being surrounded by nature—whether it was going to the beach with his wife, traveling on ski trips with his friends, or enjoying long Sunday morning bike rides. He was also passionate about music, especially rock, jazz, and 80s classics. His greatest enjoyment, however, was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents and Anna, his beloved wife of 28 years, other survivors include his loving children, Konrad Ben (fiancée Margaret Port) and Victoria Ben, his cherished sister, Aleksandra Peters (husband Russell), his brothers-in-law, Piotr Kubien (wife Iwona) and Pawel Kubien (wife Teresa), as well as his adored nieces and nephews, Oliver and Natalie Peters and Emilia and David Kubien.  

A walk-through visitation period will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Guests are asked to wear face masks and socially distance as they enter the building, pay their respects and exit in order to allow others the same opportunity. All funeral services and interment will be held privately for the immediate family.
