Obituary of Nancy J. Gottschalk

Nancy J. Gottschalk, age 75, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on May 16, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Martin H. and Elizabeth (Lyddy) Gottschalk. A graduate of Trumbull High School in 1964, Nancy attended Russell Sage College and graduated with a BA from the University of Bridgeport in 1968, her Master's degree in 1971. She taught in the Trumbull Public Schools at Tashua Elementary and then Madison Middle for 35 years before retiring in 2003. She served as chair of the Trumbull Nature and Arts commission from 2015-2018. She worked at People's United Bank and Seven Maples in Monroe. She enjoyed traveling and did so extensively. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her extended family and cousins, Barbara Loughrey and her husband George of Shelton and her children, Shannon Kelley and her husband Pat of Oxford, John Loughrey and Catherine Rosa Loughrey of Shelton as well as her beloved dog, Duffy. She was predeceased by her goddaughter Erin Whitmeyer of Trumbull.

Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. in St. Stephen Church, Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org
