I will always remember the fun we had at my 60th birthday party 6 years ago. Donna was a fun loving person who I will miss very much.
My deepest condolences.

On August 12, 2021, in the early morning, before I had even gotten out of bed, I got a telephone call. On the other end of the line, a woman’s faint voice greeted me. “Hello,” she said. It was Donna. We talked for a short time. It was good to catch up because we hadn’t chatted in a while. But, it was clear she wasn’t doing well. I tried calling her again the next day and in the days after that to see how she was doing, but I never reached her.
The next thing I knew, Donna was gone. The sad news came from her Auntie Aurella. She told me she had bad news: Donna had passed. I was shocked, saddened and hurt. I couldn’t believe it and Immediately started crying. That was several days ago. I’m still crying. How do you say goodbye to a good friend? I don’t know. But, I do know I’m not ready to say goodbye to Donna.
We worked together for many years. Our friendship outside of work grew because Donna was a nice, caring person. She was a great baker too. She had the best recipes for cookies, cakes, apple pie, corn pudding - even baked beans - and she was generous with them. But most of all, I enjoyed being in her company. Donna and I did a lot of things together. We were both UCONN women’s basketball fanatics and enjoyed watching the girls play. Sometimes we took in a game at the arena. Other times, we watched together by phone. Once, we watched them play from my house. We took a few trips to Foxwoods Casino, and we sometimes stopped by a local spot to play Keno. But the best the thing we did was celebrate our birthdays. We were both September babies and so we made a point of picking a September day together every year to mark our births. Usually, that meant having lunch. We even managed to get together, safely, in 2020 at the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. We ate in Donna’s new home. I’m so glad we spent that time together. I had no idea it would be our last celebration.
To Donna, I say, ‘I’ll love you forever. I’m only saying goodbye for now. I’ll see you in heaven.’
Your buddy, Billie G.

I'm truly saddened to hear of Donna's passing. She and I were good friends back at THS. We did so much together - going to "Good Times" on the weekends, over each other's houses, vacation at Lake George - she had a beautiful smile and a warm heart. My condolences to her family.
