Obituary of Aida Rodrigues

Aida Rodrigues, age 92, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Joao Rodrigues, went to be with the Lord our God on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Born on October 10, 1929 in Bobadela, Boticas, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Antonio (Pipa) Dias and Francisca Mendes Teixeira. She married Joao Rodrigues, a mason stone worker, in December of 1955 and she spoke of him a lot as her true love and soul mate.

After coming to the United States, she found jobs quickly. She worked for B&W Leather Coats, where she ran the iron board machine. Then she began working at Key Industries, she loved her job there but when it closed, she began working in the food court at Connecticut Post Mall. That's when she found her calling. She loved helping other people. She loved spending time with her family, cooking and playing cards. Time with her family and many, many friends was when she was at her happiest. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves behind to treasure her memories, three children, Judith Pires and her husband Jorge Pires of Bridgeport, Maria Rosa Winfree and husband Paul L. Winfree of Crossville TN, and Anthony Rodrigues and his wife Esperança Rodrigues of Branford. She was loved and adored by her nine cherished grandchildren, Lenita Pazmino (Pablo Pazmino), Daniel Pires, Cristina Esteves (Joaquim), Michael Pires, Diana Bledsoe (Russell), Jon Alexander Michaud and his husband Justin Michaud. Joseph Pires. Alex Rodrigues and Andrew Rodrigues; she was adored by her six great grandchildren, Tyler Jason Francoeur, Matthew Nolan Francoeur, Daniela Pazmino, David Pires, Luke Pazmino, and Vienna Pires.

She also leaves to cherish her memory, her 94-year-old sister Maria Mendes Dias and several nieces and nephews. Aida is predeceased by her husband Joao Rodrigues and a daughter Idalina , a sister Anna DeMacedo and a brother Antonio Mendes Dias known as Pipa to all who loved him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Road, Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family at a walk-through visitation on Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Masks and social distance are required as people walk through and exit without lingering.
