Edie was a person who lit up everyone around her. People immediately liked her when they met her. She was funny and very witty. She played with children, and they adored her. She was the perfect hostess, making sure all her guests were comfortable and wanted for nothing. She knew how to keep a conversation going and have everyone join in.
Edie, Elaine Ingram, and I worked as Public Health nurses for the City of Bridgeport. We usually had dinner on Friday nights after work. We sat and talked about everything from grade school to nursing school to work. We found almost everything hysterically funny and called ourselves The Three Amigas. We even had t-shirts made up,
Edie was a perfect nurse. She was knowledgeable in her field, compassionate, and she took time to know her patients. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was also a spectacular friend. Edie was generous and loving and so much more. She will be missed by many. I hope my prayers will help you through your grief and help her soul to rest in peace.

I first met Edith (edie) when we all went to Lourdes Sen Sec school together in the early sixties . She then emigrated to the USA Myself and Robert Bleach and few others kept in touch with Edie and her new school friends at Central high school Bridgeport, we would send taped conversation back and forward by post and all phoned from public phone boxs without paying .You dont get Scotsmen paying for anything if they can avoid it, scots boys also. We all then grewup and lost touch and went about our ways. Then a golden jubilee celebration was taking place for my primary school 2004 as a part of that we where trying to get former pupils involved , lots of them had emigrated I got intouch with and they made it over tried to find Edie online but with no luck. Then tried birth, marriges, deaths etc and found Edith Pratt married Joesph McGuigan 7 November 1970, and unbelievable my wife Rachel and I where married that very same date. So then it was trying to locate them and eventually found the correct McGuigan. think i spoke to most McGuigans in CT I dialled the number and told the guy who answered who I was looking for and of course it was Joe he said you must be Archie LOL.
So 41 years later we were back in touch. At that time I travelled to the US on business every year, so we made an arrangement and i met Joe and Edie in NYC and we all became friends. I met all her wonderful supporting family, and friends We met up a few times in Florida, Joe came over to Scotland /Ireland we had great times. We went to watch the FAMOUS Glasgow Celtic what better than that ?
I saw Joe and Edie were great for each other and when Edie health got worst i saw Joe done what Joe does well and that was looking after Edie, she was always fun Rachel and I spent some time in CT with both of them and loved it.
So very sad to hear of Edies passing , she has made many online friends over here in Scotland , who are all equally shocked and saddend We pass on all our condolences . "Our flower of Scotland when will we see her like again "
RIP EDITH
