Obituary of Frances Ann Cronk

Frances Ann (Maiolo) Cronk, age 96 of Shelton and formerly a longtime resident of Stratford passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2022 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Wesley “Mort” Cronk, III. Born in Bridgeport on November 20, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Nichola and Rachela Iovine Maiolo. Mrs. Cronk was a bookkeeper for City Trust Bank then later serving in the same capacity at Stewarts Dress Shop in the Trumbull mall for many years. Fran was an extremely social person and enjoyed being surrounded by her many friends, whether it be playing cards or having dinner. She enjoyed hosting lunches for her family and friends. She was also a woman of great faith and much of her life revolved around activities associated with Trinity Episcopal Church, where she built many friendships over the years. Fran was an avid reader and also enjoyed tending to her gardens, which she was meticulous about their care. A true matriarch in every sense of the term, she was devoted to her family and happiest when surrounded by them. A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her beloved husband, Mort, she was also predeceased by her son, Wesley Cronk, IV, her brother, Vincent Maiolo, and her sisters, Marieanne Antonella, Phyllis Iannone, Margaret Nolan and Jennie Ruggiero. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and dear friends too numerous to mention.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 1734 Huntington Turnpike., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
