Obituary of Angeline M. Coon
Angeline M. “Angie” (Ruggiero) Coon, age 90, of Southbury and formerly of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth J. Coon. Born in Bridgeport on December 23, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Dominic and Cecelia (Zandonella) Ruggiero. After graduating high school in Bridgeport, Angie began her working career as a bookkeeper at Remington. She then spent a number of years at People’s Bank, where she was responsible for handling second mortgages and most recently worked at J.C. Penny in furniture sales, where she eventually retired in 2000 after many years of dedicated service. She built many friendships over the years at each of her endeavors. Early on, she enjoyed traveling adventures with her husband and other close friends. Angie’s priority was her family and her greatest enjoyment however was found in the time she spent surrounded by them. A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving children, Nancy Serafin and her husband David of Newtown and Dr. David Coon and his friend Robert Nguyen of Las Vegas, NV, her brother, Donald Ruggiero and his wife Paulette of Newtown, as well as several nieces and nephews, especially goddaughters, Carol Work and her husband Wayne of Naugatuck and Laura Marino and her husband Frank of Huntington. She also leaves her beloved feline companion Kiki, who will miss her greatly. In addition to her beloved husband Kenneth, she was also predeceased by her brother, Guido Ruggiero and her sisters, Irma Kopchak, Vera Bernardo and Carmella Mazzucco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
