Obituary of Marie M. Izzo

Marie Madeline Russo Izzo, age 96, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late John L. Izzo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Born in Bridgeport on July 27, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Theresa Scalzi Russo. She was a lifelong resident of Trumbull.

Marie was always very involved in the community and was an active member of the Trumbull Women’s Club and the Trumbull school system PTA for many years. Marie loved to travel, dance, attend the theatre, play bingo and cards and was an avid bowler. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who cared for and loved her family.

Marie is survived by her two children, Mark Izzo and his wife Marianne and Deborah Izzo and her husband James Long, two grandchildren, Angela Applegate and her husband Brian and Michael Izzo and his wife Elise, four great grandchildren, Eli, Evan, Michael John and Miles. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Russo.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Benchmark Senior Living at Split Rock and the CT Hospice for their compassion and professional care given to Marie.
