George was a fun teacher at Kolbe High School. I remember him having a 62 silver Chevrolet convertible. He was very kind and I was in one of his classes. Francis Niestemski Class of 1968. May he rest in peace and may God watch over his family.

Mr. Loughery was much more than my football coach and a Kolbe teacher for me. His exemplary counselling and personal oversight beyond classrooms and football fields formed a basic foundation for my subsequent USAF and teaching careers since 1968. I can still vividly recall going over the playbooks in Mr. Loughery's Trumbull home, him taping up my sprained ankles for basketball+, his bus driving multiple sport teams, and his advising me to strive through adversary throughout life's challenges and crises. His warm smile and voice always had a soothing effect and showed his genuine care for others, especially his developing students. Coaches Mr. Loughery and Frank Fucci were ideal team leaders for/during our high school youth beyond football fields and classrooms. I rue just learning of Mr. Loughery's passing at noon 28 NOV 2022 (his scheduled final service time). I offer my condolences to Mr. Loughery's family and friends and share two sentimental Loughery photo's (from '68 yearbook and '67 team photo by my Tech-alumni brother). God speed and thank you Mr. Loughery, Barbara and family!

My sincere condolences to Barbara and George’s entire family. It gave me much pleasure to have known George and coach with him for many years at Central HS and then later on at Bassick HS. George was always there for all the students both on and off the field. RIP George, Tim Marcoux

I played for Coach Loughrey at KHS graduating on 1970 George was one of the most giving , caring men i’ve ever meet. I mean he taught all day, taped kids for practice, drove the bus to and from practice just to keep 30 or so guys off the streets. I would run into him throughout Shelton and he was always appreciative of people reaching out to him RIP coach, Maybe theirs a need of a hood coach in heaven, You have a fullback and couple of linemen to start with
