Obituary of Steven Christo
A very proud veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Navy on the USS Coral Sea CVA 43. He was rarely seen without his CV-43 baseball cap and loved to share stories of his time on the aircraft carrier. Steve spent the majority of his adult work life as a route salesman for Hostess Cakes, Teamsters Union Local 443. He married his beautiful wife Patricia (Pat) Lavin Christo, the day before Valentine’s Day, 1960. They moved to Monroe in 1966 with their three children, staying in the same home until moving to assisted living together in 2021, most recently at SeaCrest in West Haven, where staff devotedly cared for them both.
Steve was sociable and kind, making friends with the store owners on his route, participating in a barber shop quartet, and sharing Twinkies with the residents and staff at SeaCrest. Most of all, Steven cherished time with his family. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy and taking day trips to the casino with Pat, weekly pizza nights with son Robert and visiting daughters Diane and Sharon and their families. In addition to Pat, he is survived by his three children, Diane McIntire, and her husband John, of Basking Ridge, NJ; Robert of Monroe and his loving partner Mary Cebik; Sharon MacEachern of Vernon, VT, and her husband, Scott. Steve’s pride and joy were his four grandchildren: Kelsey MacEachern Canty, and her husband Kevin, of Gainesville, VA; Valentina MacEachern of East Greenbush, NY; Shane McIntire of Basking Ridge, NJ and Blake McIntire and his wife Paulina, of Hillsborough, NJ. He lovingly leaves his brother, John Christo and his wife Patricia of Trumbull and many nieces and nephews. Steven was predeceased by his sister Katherine Ziu and her husband Mitch; his brother Tom Christo and his sister Clanty Seferi.
Family and friends may greet the family on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A prayer service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be held privately.
