Vito was also at the Bristol Boys club camp—Camp Wagon in Canaan Ct. He took me and Maurice Giannotti and taught us boxing. He was a great coach and person. I never forgot him.

Coach Montelli was my baseball coach at Notre Dame High School my Freshman year in 1959. I transferred to Harding High School during my Sophomore year. My father died a year later, in 1961. Coach Vito brought the entire baseball team from Notre Dame to my dad's funeral. That was 62 years ago but I would never forget the class he displayed during that time. I wrote Coach a handwritten letter maybe 8 or 9 years ago and I really complimented him and called him a Living Legend in Connecticut coaching. I also mentioned many of the names that played for him in that first year of coaching in 1959. He got my phone number from my brother, I think, and called me. He said he kept my letter at the desk in his office and showed it to visitors that played for him and that also knew me. He was very proud of that letter. Coach will be missed by all who knew him. Dear Delores and kids, We are saddened to hear of Vito’s death. He was a great man. I was always impressed as he came to parent teacher conferences with pen and paper. However for your family, he only received praise of his children. Delores and Vito raised great children. The only few we ever had as babysitters. May God bless you all.
