Obituary of Joseph M. Vazquez
Joseph M. Vazquez, age 81, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2023. Born in Stamford on December 18, 1941, he was a son of the late Joseph and Josephine Vazquez. Mr. Vazquez worked for many years in the printing industry and was a member of the Army National Guard. Throughout his adult life, Joe enjoyed countless trips with family and friends to Cape Cod, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island. He was also an avid antique hunter and loved attending car races with his friends. He had a love of all animals big and small, and would never hesitate to care for any critters who came his way. In his later years, nothing made him happier than spending time laughing with family and friends, listening to blues music and cheering on UConn Women’s basketball. He was known for his easygoing nature and cheerful, friendly demeanor.
Joseph was predeceased by the love of his life, Maureen. They married on September 16, 1967 and began their married life in Stamford, later moving to Norwalk and finally Trumbull. He is survived by a son, Brian J. Vazquez of Norwalk; a daughter, E. Robin Ryan and her husband, Daniel of Trumbull; two beloved granddaughters Caroline and Lauren Ryan of Trumbull; a sister, Connie Murawski of Stratford; and sisters-in-law, Diane Grandison of Norwalk and Patricia Fasolino and her husband William of Rye Brook, NY; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death was a brother, Richard Vazquez and brother-in-law, Michael Grandison.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital and St. Joseph’s Center that cared for Joe and to so many others for their compassion and kindness. Because Joe was a lover of animals, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trumbull Animal Shelter, 324 Church Hill Road, Trumbull, CT 06611.
