Obituary of Sperandina Coccoloni

Sperandina (Sperry) Coccoloni, age 92, died on Friday, August 11, 2023 at her home in Ambler, PA. Sperry was a loving, kind and generous Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.

A long-time resident of Trumbull, Sperry was an employee of the Trumbull School System; Head Baker at Madison Junior High, and then advancing to Kitchen Manager before retiring in 1995.

Born in Ripi, Italy, a daughter to the late Augusto and Emilia (Guglielmi) Ferrante, Sperry came to the United States as a 16 year old girl; boarding a trans-Atlantic ship bound for New York City. She immediately enrolled in night school to learn English, graduated from High School, and began working as a dress-maker. Eventually she met the man she would be married to for over 40 years, Walter G. Coccoloni.

She and her husband relocated to Bridgeport where Walter started his own business and Sperry continued to work while also raising two daughters; Yvonne (Coccoloni) Connolly and Uana Coccoloni. They moved to Trumbull to raise their family and that is where she stayed until 2005 when she moved to Ambler, PA. Here she started a whole new chapter with the same boundless energy and zest for life that she always had; joining the Senior Center and enrolling in their gym, and taking yoga, tai chi, water aerobics, and Spanish language classes. She had a love of travel, being with friends and family, and cooking – lots of cooking and baking!

Sperry is survived by her daughters Yvonne (Coccoloni) Connolly and her husband Kevin Connolly, and Uana Coccoloni and her husband Terrence Moore; her grandchildren Caitlin, Genevieve and Cole, as well as 3 great-granddaughters Dylan, Mirelle and Maeve.

All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17th directly in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull. Interment to follow in Long Hill Burial Grouds, Trumbull.
