Obituary of Jean Rich

Our beloved Jean (Cicchiello) Rich, with her loving family by her side, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2023, at the age of 88.  She was born on June 11, 1935, in Bridgeport, CT to her parents, the late Frank Cicchiello and Lisa (Labagnara) Cicchiello. She was the eldest of their three daughters.

As a girl of Italian immigrant parents, Jean learned at a young age to savor her favorite Italian customs and embrace the American way of life.  She applied her strong work ethic to self-educate and become a professional in business administration.  She worked for Monroe Engineering as a bookkeeper for over 25 years and contributed to their growth and expansion.

After completing high school and entering the workforce, she met the love of her life, Leonard Anthony Rich and shared a blissful married union of 65 years while they raised their three daughters in their family home in Monroe, CT.  

Jean led a rich life full of family, laughter and love.  She was a devoted wife and mother and loyal friend who cherished her many relationships including those with her two sisters, her three daughters and her many life-long friends. She was truly spirited, the first to attend a party and throw one of her own as well as a passionate tennis afficionado who could cite the stats of any player and cheer them on through the TV.

Jean is survived by her husband, Leonard, her daughters, Lisa Rich (Rafael Busto), Laura Gomez (Javier) and Lynn Rich (SG Rajeev) and her grandchildren, Chase and Julia Busto, Lenny and Sara Gomez, Alec and Leela Rajeev as well as her two sisters, Emma Reinwald and Mary Ann Perry and many nieces and nephews.

The family will host a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT.   Friends are invited between 10:00-11:00 a.m. to greet the family.  Interment will follow in Monroe Center Cemetery, Monroe, Connecticut.
