Obituary of Stanislaw Plona
Stanislaw "Stanley" Plona, age 83, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Irena (Grajko) Plona. Born in Poland on July 6, 1940, he was a son of the late Wladyslaw and Stanislawa (Nalewajek) Plona. Mr. Plona was employed by Handy and Harman for many years as a machinist before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed watching soccer. He was passionate and knowledgeable about World History, in which he loved to engage in conversation with others. His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored above all else. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife Irena of 62 years, other survivors include his loving children, Ursula Plona of Trumbull, John Plona and his girlfriend Kathy Morissey of Milford, Stanley Plona Jr. and his wife Lisa of Stratford and Barbara Traggianese and her husband Robert of Monroe, his cherished grandchildren, Jesse Plona, Brittany Plona, Tyler Traggianese, Kayla Traggianese, Samantha Plona, Angelena Plona and Kara Traggianese, his sisters, Genowefa Cyganowski of Bridgeport and Irena Zera and her husband Czeslaw of Poland and brother-in-law, Casimir Wresilo of Shelton as well as several adored great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Urszula Plona, a sister, Marianna (Halina) Wresilo, his brothers, Czeslaw, Jan, Mieczyslaw and Tadeusz Plona and a brother-in-law, Richard Cyganowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:00 am in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
