Dear Maggie, David, Dana, Kimberly, and Family,
I have such wonderful memories of “Duanie” during my childhood. He was a kind, caring man who brought happiness wherever he went with just his smile. When he asked, “How are you?” he genuinely meant it and always showed an interest in others. He was a great storyteller too, with a wonderful sense of humor. It was clear how much he adored all of you, his family, and I am deeply sorry for your immense loss. Heaven has surely gained back its brightest angel!
With love and sympathy,
Jennifer (Dorok) DeMaio

Duane Howell was my Mr. Miyagi from the movie “Karate Kid”. I worked partime for Duane for 24 years helping to care for the apartment house. He taught me a lot on how to take care of a building. He taught me patience; I dug weeds out of the sidewalk with a screwdriver. I vacuumed the hallways of the apartment house; guess who vacuums at my house…me. Along with various minor repairs, Duane taught me small but important techniques on how to do certain jobs. Many of which I still use today. But he taught me much more and that was about life. That putting in a hard day at work would pay off in the future. It did!!! That sitting down after work and discussing what was going on in the world along with a few beers is good medicine! Also meeting all the different people who lived there, the electricians, plumbers, who kept the place running. Duane taught me a lot about life I will always love him for that, thank you God.
