Obituary of Emilia DaSilva Teixeira

Emilia DaSilva Teixeira, age 85, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Arlindo Teixeira, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Born in Antigo de Serraquinhos, Montalegre, Portugal on October 29, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Jose DaSilva and Maria Ribeiro DaSilva. Emilia immigrated to the United States in 1978 and settled in Bridgeport with her family. Emilia worked at Bridgeport Fittings for over 27 years, until she retired in 2005.

Emilia was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, always putting the needs of her family before her own. She enjoyed cooking for the family, and every Wednesday night, for many years, the entire family gathered to enjoy the various Portuguese dishes, that we all continue to cook today. She and Arlindo cherished the moments where they were surrounded by laughter, storytelling, and proudly teaching the family about the variety of vegetables in their garden on Folino Drive. Emilia was instrumental in raising all six of her grandchildren and will be deeply missed by them and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her three dedicated and loving children, Fred (Al) Teixeira and his wife Lucy of Trumbull, Joe Teixeira and his wife Glorimar of Bridgeport and Ana Paula Mendes and her husband Domingos of Easton, six cherished grandchildren, Zachary Teixeira and his wife Maggie, Jake and Ryan Teixeira, and Max, Jackson and Sofia Mendes who always brought a big smile to her beautiful face. She also leaves behind her especially beloved younger brother Manuel DaSilva and his wife Tina of Easton, in addition to a sister Mariana and brother Joao in Portugal as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was sadly predeceased by her son, Tony Teixeira who will be welcoming her with loving arms in Heaven.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
