Obituary of Kenneth E. McInerney

Kenneth E. McInerney, age 64, formerly of Newtown, Connecticut passed away suddenly on Monday, August 5, 2024. He was born in the Bronx, NY, on June 26, 1960, the son of the late Gerald P. and June (Cowan) McInerney. In addition to his former spouse of 28 years, Christine, Ken was the beloved father of his cherished children, Owen and Maggie. Other survivors include his brother John, brother Chris and his wife Marianne, and sister Suzy. He was also a caring uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Ken was extremely proud of his career as a Local 40 Ironworker, where he dedicated over 30 years to building and shaping the skyline of New York City. His skill and craftsmanship were not just a source of personal pride but also a legacy he left behind in the form of countless structures that stand as a testament to his hard work. He was always willing to lend a hand and share his knowledge with the younger generation, making him a respected figure within the ironworking community. A fan of the simple things in life, Ken channeled his artistic talents through painting and had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hiking and spending time by the ocean. A lifelong Yankees fan, Ken's love for baseball was something he enjoyed with his family. His love and appreciation for art and music were evident in every aspect of his life, one of his favorite bands being 'Band of Horses'. Ken's cooking skills were also cherished by his loved ones, who delighted in the meals he prepared.

Friends may greet the family on Thursday, August 15th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT.
