Obituary of Elizabeth J. Young

Elizabeth J. (Higgs) Young, age 94, of Trumbull and formerly of Sea Cliff, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Spring Meadows Assisted Living in Trumbull. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert A. Young.

Born in Bronx, New York on January 2, 1930, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Catherine (Gerstung) Higgs. Mrs. Young was an avid gardener and was the epitome of what having a “green thumb” meant. She was heavily involved with the local town beautification committees, and was known for her garden which was showcased on the town garden tours. She was raised on the water and loved anything that involved boating or sailing. Elizabeth also spent countless hours volunteering and was a docent at the Sea Cliff Village Museum where she built many friendships with others that shared similar interests. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her devoted daughter, Susan Naylor of Monroe and her cherished granddaughter, Jennifer Naylor and her fiancé Jeffrey Winslow, daughter in-law Anne H. Wesp, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, William Wesp, son-in-law, Floyd Stuart Naylor and sister, Katherine Gerretsen.
