Obituary of Joseph Arlio

Joseph Arlio, 90, of Morristown, New Jersey, and formerly of Trumbull, Connecticut, beloved husband of the late Mary Ann Timpanelli Arlio, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2024. Born on March 4, 1934, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the cherished son of the late Frank and Helen Motasky Arlio.

A proud alumnus of Bullard Havens Technical School, where he excelled as a standout pitcher, Joseph embarked on a distinguished career with Silverstone Electric. He was a dedicated member of IBEW Local 488, retiring in good standing in 2000. After 56 wonderful years in Trumbull, Joseph moved to Morristown in 2020 to be closer to his family, where he embraced his role as a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.

Affectionately known as “Hunchmeir,” Joseph will be fondly remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his passion for the Detroit Lions, who came tantalizingly close to the Super Bowl this year.

He is survived by his devoted son Gary Arlio and daughter-in-law Susan of Morristown, NJ; two cherished grandchildren, Melissa Andersen and her husband Robert of Morristown, and Bryan Arlio and his wife Meredith of Athens, Georgia; and four great-grandchildren, Siena, Sofia, Joanna, and Rachel. Joseph also leaves behind brothers-in-law John Licitra, Frank Albani, Paul Timpanelli Jr. and his wife Carol, sister-in-law Marie Timpanelli, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Cynthia LaFountain and Joyce Arlio.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Merlene Wong of Newark, NJ, for her compassionate care and support during Joe's later years.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT. A prayer service will be held at 11:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery in Stratford. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.abriola.com.
