Obituary of Guido J. Marseglia

Guido J. Marseglia, age 88, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Frances Pensiero Marseglia, died on Friday, August 16, 2013 in St. Vincents Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on May 12, 1925, he was a son of the late Evangeliste and Michelina Masi Marseglia. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, he received American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific Theater and Philippine Theater Stars, as well as the Victory Medal. He was a graduate of Central High School where he played on the Basketball team, then went on to play semi-pro basketball with The Rectors. Mr. Marseglia was a quality control analyst for Harvey Hubbell for over 30 years. In his earlier years he worked for the U. S. Postal Service and in the insurance industry. He was also a Superior Court Sheriff for the State of Connecticut for 10 years. He was a member of the Bridgeport Old Timers where he was past president in 1999-2000. In 2001, he won the George Dutch Sherwood Memorial Award. Survivors include a son, Michael Marseglia of Bridgeport, daughter-in-law, Marcia Marseglia of SC, two grandsons, David Marseglia and his wife Michelle and Graig Marseglia, two great granddaughters, Avery and Alyssa and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a son, Joseph Marseglia and three brothers, Dennis, Louis and Jim Marseglia. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
