Obituary of Anthony J. Mastriano

U.S. Army Veteran Anthony Joseph Mastriano, age 84, a lifelong Bridgeport resident, died on Friday June 26, 2009 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on February 28, 1925, he was a son of the late Philip and Carmela Mendicini Mastriano. Anthony grew up on Hamilton Street on the East Side of Bridgeport and had many fond memories of his childhood. He was a veteran of WW II, entering the service at age 18 and served in the Pacific Theatre as Private First Class, Battery C, 52nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. His military occupations included heavy machine gunner and military police. Prior to entering the service, Anthony worked as a machine operator at Casco Products Company in Bridgeport. After his discharge, Anthony continued his career as a mechanic, working at Bridgeport Hydraulic Co. and Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. His generous spirit and love and concern for family will be missed. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by five sisters, Natalie Mastriano, Carmelina Romano, Ann Harding, Mary Manente and Phyllis Smith, a brother, Angelo Mastriano, brothers-in-law, Andrew Drapp, Ted Harding and Dominic Ruggiero and a sister-in-law, Mary Drapp Mastriano. Survivors include two sisters, Jean Ruggiero of Bridgeport and Rose Torlish of Stratford, brothers-in-law, Robert Romano and Patrick Torlish as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday July 3, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
