Obituary of Irene A. Mengold

Shelton Resident Irene Davis Mengold, 67, of Shelton, beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother entered into eternal rest at Connecticut Hospice in Branford on August 10, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer and other complications. Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 4, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Sophie and J. Gregory Davis Jr. Irene graduated from Central High School and Hairdressing school. She worked for St. Andrews Parish in Bridgeport for many years and enjoyed being a homemaker and caregiver. Irene was an active member of the Shelton Senior Center and enjoyed working out at the Fitness Edge with her trainer, Ashley. Her passions were shopping; attending her grandchildrens sporting events as well as the activities of her nieces, nephews, great nephew and great niece and frequenting Mohegan Sun. Irene is survived by her devoted husband, Robert of 47 years, her children Maureen Mengold, James and his wife Jennifer Mengold, her grandchildren Jamal Mitchell, Brianna and Colin Mengold of Shelton, CT; beloved sister, Nancy Timperanza and two brothers, Donald Davis and Gary Davis. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, a great-niece and great-nephew as well as many other loving family members and friends. She is predeceased by her faithful and adored dog, Courage. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Monroe.
