Obituary of James J. Alimena

James J. Alimena, age 86, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Marie Campanella Alimena, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born in West New York, NJ on December 5, 1928, he was a son of the late Bartholomeo (Ben) and Jeanne Provini Alimena. Mr. Alimena received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Steven's Institute in Hoboken, NJ, and was a retired Vice President of Engineering at United Technologies Norden Systems in Norwalk with 34 years of dedicated service. He received the Mead Medal from UTC and held several patents. He was a passionate skier and truly enjoyed his time on the slopes, especially when accompanied by his family. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and golfing and loved to go dancing with his wife. But above all he was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who treasured the time spent with his family. In addition to his wife, Marie of 62 years, survivors include a son, James B. Alimena and his wife Clarissa of Shelton, three daughters, Christine Robinson and her husband Gary of Merrimack, NH, Lisa Nyden and her husband Matthew of Monroe and Michelle Varrone and her husband Andrew of Trumbull, two brothers, Barry Alimena and his wife Patricia and Robert Alimena and his wife Alberta, all of Florida, seven grandchildren, Juliette and Stephanie Alimena, Jason and Tricia Robinson, Sam Nyden and Jake and Mia Varrone as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 321 Research Parkway, Suite 212, Meriden, CT 06450.
