Obituary of Salvatore P. Rizzo

Salvatore P. Rizzo, age 95, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Lucy B. Scinto Rizzo, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on February 10, 1920, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rosemarie Peleggi Rizzo. A U. S. Army veteran, he was a retired Master Machinist from Perkin Elmer with over 30 years of dedicated service. Sal was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus St. Teresa Council 2961 & Assembly 129, Trinacria M.A. Society, American Legion Post 141, Perkin Elmer Retirees Club and was also an avid New York Yankees fan. But above all else, he was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who cared deeply for his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a son, Mark Rizzo. Survivors include a son, Paul M. Rizzo and his wife Karen of Monroe, a daughter, Rosemarie Pekar and her husband John of Bridgeport, daughter-in-law, Stacy Bombero of Brookfield, eight grandchildren, Peter Rizzo, Lara Rizzo and Nick Brown, Daniel Rizzo, Kristin Rizzo, Michelle Johnson and her husband Travis, Julianne Rizzo, Matthew Pekar and Laura Pekar, three great grandchildren, Madelyn, Morgan and Flynn, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Margaret’s Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town National Headquarters, 200 Flanagan Boulevard, P.O. Box 8000, Boys Town, NE 68010.
