Obituary of Mariano Strano

Mariano Strano, age 84, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Born on September 2, 1939 in Castiglione, Sicily, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Mercedes Ferrara Strano. At the age of 15, Mariano left Italy with his family and settled in Newburgh, New York before coming to Connecticut and was a long-time baker at Del Prete Italian Pastry.

He was an avid bowler and loved to play golf, was a member of the Elks Club, Knights of Columbus and the Men's Club at Stern Village. He made many friendships at Stern Village and cherished the time he spent with those he was close to, his dear friends. Mariano enjoyed dancing and loved singing. Karaoke was a hobby for him and he shined at getting the crowd on their feet with songs by Frank Sinatra being his specialty. Mariano loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. La vita è bella.

Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and his smile lit the room when his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were by his side. He was blessed with a family united by strength and love.

Survivors include his four loving children, Gina Tiber and her husband Jonathan, Mario Strano, Stephanie Strano and Keri Kallaway and her husband Brad, four cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Olivia, Jamie and Camryn, two adored great grandchildren, Justin and Daniel, two brothers, Vincent Strano and Aldo Strano and his wife Susan, two sisters, Carmela Vasile and Maria Strano, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 5 to 7 pm in the Abriola Parkview Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Reflections by family and friends will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a closing prayer service.

A  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 11:00 am in St. Mary's Church, 1209 Rte 9W, Marlboro, NY. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Marlboro, New York.
